I recently have hosted a hamachi server (VPN #1) for games and joined another hamachi server (VPN #2) for work. In either case, I have not set anything to allow file-sharing but I was able to browse the files of VPN #2 from my machine.

I'd like to know if the other parties will be able to access my files (which I do not hope so). I did a litmus test by remoting into the host of VPM #2 and then tried to browse my files from there. A log-in window was shown and blocked my attempt.

I then setup a VPN #3 between two of my machines and tried to have them browse each other. Same result (can't browse).

I am using a Windows 8 environment.

Anyway... I know Hamachi has some security risks with hosting files some years past. I haven't seen such posts recently. I'd assume security has gotten better now that file-sharing has to be explicitly turned on for other parties using Hamachi?

Your input on this will be invaluable.

Edit: Some of my folders are shared by these folders only have User on the list of shared users.
