所以我可以让它使用 UPN 作为标识来工作：

ldap_bind($ldapconn, "Administrator@ldap.patontheback.org", "<password>");

它有效，但不能解释为什么另一种方式不起作用。

对于那些像我稍后提出这个问题的人来说，正确的方法是

ldap_bind($ldapconn, "cn=Administrator,cn=Users,dc=ldap,dc=patontheback,dc=org", "<my password>");

这cn=Users是要包含的必需路径。
