为了解决这个问题，我更改了 /usr/local/mysql/data 目录的权限，如下所示：

  sudo chown -R ubuntu data/

所以现在而不是：

  $ /usr/local/mysql/support-files/mysql.server restart
  * MySQL server PID file could not be found!
  Starting MySQL
  . * The server quit without updating PID file (/usr/local/mysql/data/ip-172-31-46-103.pid).

我现在得到：

  $ /usr/local/mysql/support-files/mysql.server restart
