I am trying to install imagemagick on my ubuntu 12.04 server.

my php version is PHP 5.4.17-1~precise+1 and installed imagemagick Version: 8:6.6.9.7-5ubuntu3.2

but installing php5-imagick is compromising my php5 version i think:

Have tried installing php5-imagick=3.1.0~rc1-1

but it says 

php5-imagick : Depends: phpapi-20090626 which is a virtual package.

What should I do?

添加这个ppa ppa:ondrej/php5-oldstable;

sudo apt-add-repository ppa:ondrej/php5-oldstable

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get install php5-dev

sudo pecl install imagick
