Version 2.x is just as fast and reliable, with tons of new features. You can find changes in versions 2.0, 2.1, and 2.2 here. Staying on an older version just means less features, less support, less bug fixes, less people online to help you with issues. Go with 2.2.x (or even 2.3 RC).
