我个人认为您现在应该开始使用mysqli，因为mysql不再推荐用于编写新代码（http://www.php.net/manual/en/intro.mysql.php）。

也参考这个线程PHP- MySQL 或 MySQLi 中哪个最快？, “mysqli 支持底层 MySQL API 的更多功能，例如事务和带参数的准备查询。您还可以以面向对象的方式调用 mysqli 函数”。
